Not sure exactly when this happened, but it had to have been recently. Global News in Canada has expanded its global newsgathering with the addition of bureaus around the world.
Global had always had a bureau in Washington, Eric Sorensen is the bureau chief there. In recent times, they've also had a video-journalist in London, Stuart Greer. Now, former weekend anchor Tara Nelson has become Europe Bureau Chief, based in London, whilst Stuart Greer has become a London-based Foreign Editor.
Jas Johal, who was previously a correspondent based in Vancouver, has become South Asia Correspondent, based in New Delhi, India.
Lauren McNabb, who was a Toronto-based correspondent, is now Middle East Correspondent based in Jerusalem.
Ben O'Hara-Byrne, who was previously an Ottawa-based correspondent, is now based in Beijing and covering the news from Asia.
This is a good move for Global, as it now cements their position as not only a force in Canadian news broadcasting, but a growing force in international news. Global National can be seen worldwide as an on-demand webcast, and podcast. The website is not bad either. There are 3 bulletins produced by Global National. The main half hour bulletin, plus two updates, one 30 seconds in length, and one 60 second update.
A companion blog to the radio show, and a dose of life, the universe... and other strangeness!
